Gee-Oh is a curious, colourful clown who approaches the world as though it has just done something astonishing — which, to Gee-Oh, it usually has.
The character is created and performed by Heather Cornick, an Edmonton theatre artist whose working life has unfolded backstage, onstage, in classrooms, and inside more performance venues than anyone should reasonably attempt to count.
Heather has worked in live entertainment since 1994, in lighting and projection design, stage and production management, props, puppetry, live-event technology, teaching, and performance. Her clown development includes a three-week Mask and Clown intensive with Jan Henderson and Extreme Joey & Auguste training with Jan Henderson and Christine Lesiak. She co-created and puppeteered Cat & Dog for the Play the Fool Festival Rookie Cabaret.
Puppetry runs through everything she does. Her training includes intensive work through Memorial University, the Banff Centre, and the Canadian Academy of Mask and Puppetry, alongside professional puppet design, construction, and workshop leadership.
Gee-Oh brings those worlds together: the responsiveness of clown, the imagination of puppetry, and the practical sense of someone who knows exactly how a live event really runs.
